Impex Continental has been active since 1972 and from the very beginning it has always paid great attention to the development of the markets and the evolution of the demand and has so consolidated itself throughout the years starting from former Yugoslavia and expanding decade by decade to all Central and Eastern European countries, Russia and Central Asian countries.

The strategic position of its head office that is located in Gorizia, a Central European city, that lies in the beautiful area called Mitteleuropa, right on the border with Slovenia, about 100 km far from Austria and Croatia and just 20km from the Adriatic Sea, permitted to have a particular perspective on the foreign markets and underlined the importance of having native speaking staff so to establish a climate of confidence with the customers and cover the gaps that commerce between different regions, languages and cultures frequently leaves open. Years of experience let us understand that this is a crucial aspect to be successful on foreign markets, so one of the secrets of our success is the combination of technical skills with human approach. Impex Continental was born in Gorizia (Italy) as an individual company in 1972, founded by Mr. Gianni Leoni. With the Slovenian border a few meters away it was natural for a commercial import export company to start its business linking former Yugoslavia to Italy. Impex Continental was the first company to import in Italy the products of Paloma, one of the major producers in former Yugoslavia (today Slovenia) of tissue products. Impex traded also board, paper and detergents, machinery and components for tissue sector.

At the end of 80s and beginning of 90s with the start of the war in Yugoslavia, Impex had to address to new markets and started to expand towards former Czechoslovakia (today Czech Republic and Slovakia), Poland and other Central - European Countries. This expansion brought also a renovation of the products range. To satisfy the demand of the new markets for plastic film for food and non food industry, Impex Continental started to trade flexible packaging to the major converters providing also "turn-key" solutions from the packaging graphic design to the finished printed material. This business put Impex in contact with some the major food and beverage brands, Coca Cola, Danone, Intersnack, Bahlsen just to name some, which made Impex widen even more its range of products and started to supply also machines for food and beverage filling, packaging and palletizing.

Machines for tissue sector were however always present in Impex Continental business which at the beginning of the new millennium consolidated and started to expand to Russia. It was flanked by the other Impex core business that is durum wheat semolina. Since then, year by year, Impex Continental has been able to become a landmark in this sector gaining agencies that cover all possible needs in tissue production, from paper machines to converting, packaging and palletizing of tissue products.

Impex Continental is growing up even more, adding to his historical core businesses (tissue and durum wheat semolina) other activities and agencies from different fields like non-woven converting and packaging machinery, secondary industrial packaging and lately also heating, cooling and energy saving solutions for productive plants and housings.
